Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 800 and 1500m events held jointly with Watford SC. Alice Fender set a new open record for the 800 free as well as breaking the old age group record for a 15 year old by over 30 seconds. Georgia Purkis set a new age group record for 14 yr olds, improving her own record set only a month ago by nearly 8 seconds, and Grace Cawley set a new age group record for 10 yr olds, breaking a record previously set in 2010. Both Alice and Georgia set Summer Regional qualifying times.
There were some massive PBs as might be expected in events which are not swum all that often, but by any count improvements in the boys 1500 of over 4 minutes by Sam Gaines, over 2 minutes by Mattias Morse, only fractionally under 2 minutes by Elliott Davies and over a minute by Cameron Clark and Joe Coldwell, are impressive. In the girls 800, Millie Herbert, Millie Anderton and Emily Young all improved their previous times by over a minute.
And just as impressive were the first swims at these distances from Henry Newbury-Kemp, Nathan Whiting, Seve Carrillo de Albornoz, Dylan Kennell, Sam Ward, Niall Marsden, Justin Patrick and Ryan Godfrey in the 1500, and Holly Robinson, Elizabeth Kelly, Tilly Stratford and Natasha Acres in the girls.
