Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club

Established in 1913, Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club (HHSC) has around 140 members from age 7 to 60+ who regularly compete at local, county, regional and national levels.  Our junior members participate in competitions including the Herts Major League, Hertfordshire Peanuts League and Swim England East Regional Championships. Whilst our Masters take part in swimming and open water competitions at a regional and national level, including the Swim England Masters Championships.

We are a family orientated, inclusive club, dedicated to promoting and developing the sport of swimming, for all ages and abilities.  Our team of experienced coaches and staff provide a supportive environment, to allow swimmers to reach their full potential.  Personal achievement can come in many forms, and we encourage our swimmers to challenge themselves at all times, whatever their level of experience.

Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club operates a structured training programme, ranging from junior squads with swimmers who are beginning their competitive swimming journey, through to our more experienced Masters level. As swimmers progress through the club, the number of weekly training sessions increase, with our more experienced swimmers training for over 7 hours a week.

The club is led by a team of highly trained coaches who are dedicated to helping swimmers of all levels improve skill techniques, endurance and overall race performance.  We are lucky to have the support of both qualified coaches and poolside helpers, who work with individual swimmers on goal setting and achieving their very best.

Being part of the club offers the opportunity to train with other swimmers who share a passion for the sport.  Fun and community spirit underpin all our training sessions, where swimmers support one another and motivate each other to succeed, both in and out of the pool.  All our swimmers enjoy the social aspect of the club and often form new lifelong friendships with those who have similar interests. Swimming can also provide an enormous boost to mental health and equips swimmers with other important attributes, such as confidence, perseverance, hard work and commitment.

Our club operates though volunteer support, and members help out in a variety of areas including team management, committee positions, administration and officiating.   Volunteering gives members the opportunity to make new connections and even develop new skills.

We are always looking for new members to join our community and we regularly run club trials for prospective members. Are you interested in joining us?
