The Dacorum School Sports Network has teamed up with Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club to provide an after school swimming club for year 3 to 6 girls and boys. The club runs at Astley Cooper School on a Friday afternoon from 3.45 – 4.45pm
Due to the success of the swimming sessions in the PE lessons, a lot of the children have expressed an interest in continuing to develop their strokes and swim more often. Therefore, an after school swimming club has been established. The coach is Charles Dainton, who has been teaching and coaching swimmers of all ages for over twenty five years, he is an ASA Level 3 Qualified Coach and former Head Coach of the Swimming Club.
Places are limited to 24 at each session and we will require attendance for the ten-week period. Children will be selected on how quickly reply slips are returned. Charles will confirm your son’s / daughter’s place with the Club.
Although the network can no longer fund this club, we have secured use of the pool which helps keep the cost remarkably low. Under these circumstances we need to ask for a contribution of £20.00 for the ten sessions.
In order to join the after school club children must be able to confidently jump into deep water and swim two lengths of the school pool (36 metres) on front crawl, breaststroke and backstroke. They must not be a member of an ASA affiliated swimming club.
Many swimmers who have joined this club progress into full membership of the swimming club.
