I am pleased to announce that following an intensive day of interviews on Tuesday 29th June, Alan Doyle has been appointed as the new Head Coach and will replace Charles from 1st September.
Alan’s commitment is known to many of us for the coaching he’s been doing with the Club for a number of years and for his attendance at most competitions, where his two daughters, Kira and Kelsey often compete. As squad leader for the Junior and Development Squads, he’s built a strong group of swimmers supported by a well co-ordinated team of volunteer coaches. Alan has shown us he has lots of ideas on how to take the Club forward, as demonstrated already by the way he’s revamped the club website and set up Facebook and Twitter feeds to keep swimmers’ abreast of events and results. He has also been instrumental in helping to shape our Club strategy.
Alan’s management experience, including running his own business, means he brings an additional set of leadership skills to the role at a time when we face increasing demands to meet the standards required for Swim 21 accreditation. As part of this, Alan will be doing his Level 2 coaching qualification this summer (including over the weekend of the AGM!) and will progress to L3 thereafter.
I am sure you’d like to join me in congratulating Alan on his appointment and in supporting him in this new role.
