Since Alan has taken over as head coach he has given me a wish list of new equipment as long as your arm. Included on this list are major items like new lane ropes and starting blocks; the cost of which, like the scoreboard, can run into thousands of pounds.
We have proved that by working together we can raise funds for the scoreboard. I am sure you will all agree it looks fantastic and has been a great asset to the club for the Birthday Open and at our Club Champs.
To kick start the fundraising campaign for the new lane ropes and starting blocks, Sainsburys, Apsley Mills have allowed us to carry out some bag packing on THURSDAY 23rd DECEMBER from 0900.
For those who are new to the club or who did not take part last year let me explain….
- I shall put a list on the notice board showing 2 hour slots from 0900-1700 on Thursday 23rd December
- swimmers/parents put their name next to a suitable time slot (or slots!)
- on the day you come to Sainsburys, Apsley Mills at that time and offer to pack people’s bag in exchange for a donation to Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club.
- Some people may even give a donation to leave their bags alone!!!
The 23rd December is the busiest shopping day on the calendar; this is a great opportunity for us to raise a lot of money. Last year with many people unable to help because of the snow we raised over £880; I am confident that with more people we can double that amount.
I appreciate it is a busy time of the year for everyone; please support your club by donating a couple of hours of your time. The more people we have on the day the more money we can raise and the quicker you or your children will feel the benefit of our new equipment.
Please note that children under the age of 14 must be supervised by a responsible adult.
Many Thanks
Claire Jelfs
