Congratulations to our club record breakers who have set the following new records over the past few months at various open meets and the County Championships in March.
In the 12 year old Girls age group Megan Pirrie broke Rachel Osborne’s nine year old club record in the 800mm Freestyle at this year’s Herts County Champs by 7 seconds and club mate Kelsey Doyle’s three year old 100m Butterfly record at the same meet. Megan went on to beat her own 200m Butterfly record set last year by an impressive 8.5 seconds and then beat her own 400m IM record set only two months ago with a very impressive time of 5.41.86, a seven second improvement.
Aimee Abrey has broken three records in the 13 year old Girls age group – she took an amazing 24 seconds off Rebecca Bowden’s nine year old 800m Freestyle record at this year’s County Champs, an achievement matched by Emily Jelfs who also beat Rebecca’s old record at the same meet. Aimee beat her own 400m IM record by 8 seconds at Counties and rounded off a successful series of events by beating Vickie Fisher’s three year old record in the 200m Backstroke.
Lois Moore’s 100m Butterfly record set in 2009 was narrowly beaten at Counties by Hannah Bagley in the 14 year old girls age group and in the 15 year old girls category Devon Prior beat her own record in the 800m Freestyle. In the same age group Darcy Holmes beat her own record in the 1500m Freestyle set four months ago by an impressive 43 seconds!
In the 11 year old Boys age group, Ben Garratt has been on impressive form, breaking a total of six records, including setting a new record in the 50m Freestyle, beating that set eight years ago at the Hemel Birthday Open by Louis Lander-Deacon. He beat his own records in the 200m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly and 400m IM and set a new record in the 200m IM beating Freddie Woodcock’s set in 2008.
Three 10 year old Boys records also fell to Max Jelfs at the County Champs this month. Max beat three of his own records in the 400m Freestyle, the 200m Backstroke and the 400m IM.
In the 14 year old age group Matt Sherriff beat Harrison Robb’s three year old record in the 50m Freestyle and Tim Boardman’s 50m Butterfly record from the same year.
Finally in the 16-24 year old age group Sam Pigott beat Bill Woodhouse’s 100mm Backstroke record time which has stood for the last six years.
Well done to all our swimmers for some great swims and for achieving some impressive times!
