The final weekend of Counties saw another magnificent medal haul for Hemel’s swimmers.
Starting with the youngest, it was two more golds in the bag for nine year-old Thushira Kumerage, in the 200m freestyle and 200m IM.
Team mate Ben Garratt came second in both these events and on Saturday night swam to a magnificent victory in the 50m freestyle.
For the 10 year-old girls, Megan Pirrie had a great final weekend, with gold medals in the 200m IM and the 800m freestyle and a silver in the 200m free.
Paige Wilding added to her impressive Counties medals collection with a bronze in the 50m backstroke final, improving three places from her position in the heats.
Thomas Sherriff capped a highly successful championships with a bronze in the 200m freestyle and bronzes in the two thrilling 50m and 100m freestyle finals.
Vickie Fisher came third in the Youth 200m IM, as did Lois Moore in the 200m freestyle, with second place in the 14 years’ 800m freestyle.
Both girls were joined by Kelsey Doyle and Hannah Bagley to swim a fantastic 4 x 50m medley relay, finishing fourth overall, beaten only by Hatfield’s A, B and C teams.
Well done to all Hemel’s swimmers. The final overall positions will be posted on the Counties website this week and a round-up of new club records will follow once all results are finalised.
