Two of our top Masters have just returned from representing HHSC in the 2010 FINA World Masters Championships in Goteborg, Sweden. Dave Pirrie and Adrienne Monger took on the world’s top Masters swimmers and put in some excellent performances with a total of 6 personal best times between them.
Dave and Adrienne were no strangers to internationl competition, having competed in the European Masters last year. This time they stepped up to the next level.
Dave managed no less than three top forty finishes – no mean feat against the world’s best. He claimed 29th in his favourite stroke, breaststroke, with a 1.24.42 in the 100m event, and a PB in the 50m event saw him gain 34th place in a time of 37.07.
A PB in the 100m freestyle saw him finishing 40th in a time of 1.08.24.
Dave also posted a PB in the 200m freestyle with a finishing time of 2.37.55 coming 46th in his age group. His 50m freestyle time of 31.09 claimed 67th spot.
All times were posted in a long course pool but Dave’s 50m breast and 100m free convert to short course PBs too.
Adrienne’s 50m butterfly time of 36.31 saw her come home in a very commendable 38th spot in her age group. A personal best in the 200m IM of 3.04.31 won her 41st position. Her second PB of the championships came in the hotly contested 50m freestyle, her time of 32.53 seeing her finishing 50th.
Congratulations to them both on their stunning performances and for putting HHSC right up there on the world stage.
