Easter Round Up

19/04/20120

A number of Hemel Swimming Club County and Regional swimmers travelled to various parts of the country in pursuit of individual goals over the Easter break.

First & foremost congratulations to Paige Wilding who achieved her first Regional time at Guildford in the Girls’ 14 years 200m Backstroke and gained third place in the process – everyone was delighted for Paige who turned 14 between Counties and Regionals and has worked hard for some time to achieve this goal – well done Paige, more where that came from we hope!  At the same meet Emily Jelfs gained third in the Girls’ 13 years 400m IM rounded off by Ben Garratt who won the Boys’ 11 year olds 100m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly and gained Regional times in both events.  Ben also swam in the Norwich Long Course meet in the previous week and won third in the 100m Butterfly and 200m Freestyle.

Finally two of our Welsh registered swimmers travelled to Swansea for the Welsh National Age Group Championships.  Megan Pirrie, 12, swam five events in the Girls’ 13 and under age group, achieved 5 PB’s and a highest finishing place of 14th in that age group.  James McGrail, 17, swam well in the Boys’ 17 Years 200m Freestyle but unfortunately fell ill following the race and had to miss his other events.

Well done to all our swimmers who continue to challenge themselves, work hard and make good progress.
