| Congratulations to Alice Fender and Ashley Coombs who competed in their first English Nationals competition at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge over the summer and to Joel Green who competed in the Welsh Nationals. Alice reached the final of the 200 free, setting a new open club record and Joel set 4 new age group records in five swims. |  |
In the 200m free heats Alice went out very strong splitting fastest in her heat at 100m to make the final where she finished finished 6th in a new personal best time and setting a new open club record. In her 400m free Alice matched her time from the qualifying window as did Ashley in the 100m free. Alice went on to match her 800m time from the Regional 2017 championships to finish 10th overall in her age group.
Meanwhile at the Welsh Nationals in Swansea, Joel set four age group records in five events making the final in the 200 fly and 50 back and setting personal best times in all seven of his swims including a a massive 11 second improvement in the 200 fly.
