Hemel Hempstead toughing it out in the Premier Division

On 9th November Hemel Hempstead continued competing against some of the top swimming clubs in the Country in the London – Premier Division of the National Arena Swimming League.

The Premier Division includes the top 16 Clubs from London and surrounding areas, this is the first time the club have featured in this top division.

The team travelled to Harlow and in the face of tough competition with much bigger clubs finished 8th on the night but they still have a chance to retain their place in the top division in the final round where double points are on offer.

The swimmers produced 18 personal best times as well as breaking some long standing club relay records.

The 15 and under girls produced a club best time for the 4 x 50m freestyle of 1.58.79 – the first time the club have broken the 1.59 barrier.

The final 6 x 50m Freestyle Open Boys relay also broke the club record with 2.35.28 the swimmers were: Freddie Woodcock, Paul Mackie, Conner Reynolds, Sam Pigott, Matt Sherriff and Tom Sherriff.

Three of our Senior swimmers Lois Moore, Alex Hatt and Sam Piggott all travelled home from University just to compete for the club which demonstrates great commitment from the three of them.

Swimmers of the gala was awarded to the two relay teams who broke the club best times.

Round Three is at Hertfordshire Sports Village, Hatfield on Saturday 14th December 2013
