Hemel Masters at Bracknell Open Masters Meet, 4th March 2012

A group of seven Masters from Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club travelled to Bracknell to compete in a Senior Age Group and Masters Open Event last weekend.

The team comprising Mark Ayres, Rachel Barber, Dave Pirrie, Adrienne Monger, Kevin McKenna, James McFarlane and Pam Ware came home with a total of 11 medals.  Pam Ware led the way, winning Gold in her age group for the Womens’ 50m Fly, followed shortly after by Gold in the Freestyle event.  She then added a third medal to her collection by coming a close second to take away silver in the 100IM in her age group.  Not to be outdone,  Dave Pirrie secured a Gold medal in the 100m Breaststroke and Silver medals in the 50m Freestyle and 100m IM in his (slightly older) age group. Further Bronze medals came from Rachel Barber for the 100IM and 50m Backstroke, Kevin McKenna in the 50m Backstroke and Mark Ayres, the most senior member of the team, also brought home Bronze for his efforts in the 50m Breaststroke.  Adrienne also swam well in a strong age group, narrowly missing out on a medal in both her events.

The day was rounded off in style by the men securing a well deserved third place in the Mens 200+ years 4 x 25m freestyle relay team with a time of 54.61.
