HHSC produced some great medal winning performances at Counties as well as seven BAGCAT top eight positions.  Read the details here.

 

Max Jelfs stamped his authority on his first ever County Championships with a commanding first place in the 9-year  boys’ BAGCATs awards.  Along the way he collected no fewer than eight medals, six of which were gold, in the 200m backstroke, freestyle and IM, the 50m freestyle and backstroke and the 100m IM. Jelfs also took home two silvers and broke six Club Records.

Another top performer was 11 year-old Megan Pirrie who claimed a very impressive total of eleven medals. Pirrie, a consummate all-rounder, claimed gold in the 400m IM, along with four silver and six bronze medals.  Overall, Pirrie finished in fifth spot in the BAGCATs scores and claimed six Club Records along the way.

Thushira Kumarage was a five-times medallist, winning the 10-year boys’ 200m IM alongside silver medals in the 400m IM, 200m breaststroke and 200m freestyle.  He claimed fifth spot in BAGCATs.

Tom Sherriff was another five-times medallist. Sherriff, 15, claimed gold in two of the toughest events, the 1500m freestyle and 400m IM. He finished second in the 200m breaststroke with bronze medals in the 200m and 400m freestyle. Along the way, Sherriff broke a grand total of seven Club Records.

Kyle Holmes narrowly missed out on gold in the 11-year boys’ 50m breaststroke by a mere two hundredths of a second.  He came second again in the 200m breaststroke, smashing his own Club Record, with bronze medals in the 50m butterfly and 100m IM. Holmes succeeded in finishing fifth in the BAGCATs competition.

Ben Garratt put in a storming PB to finish second in the 10-year boys’ 50m freestyle and break his own previous Club Record. He claimed two bronzes in the 50m butterfly and 100m IM.  He too featured in the top eight of BAGCAT s with a very respectable fourth final placing.

Hemel swimmers featured strongly in the distance 800m freestyle event with Connor Parker (12) and Devon Prior (14) claiming silver and Jacob Hutchings (12) taking bronze. Prior broke a total of four Club Records in the course of her Championships.

Adam Daniell (15) took silver in the 100m breaststroke, breaking a Club Record that had stood since 1999, with a further Record in the 50m event.

Joe Prior was a bronze medallist in the 50m breaststroke in the 10-year boys.  Prior claimed sixth spot in the BAGCATs rankings.

Fellow breaststroke specialist, Hannah Bagley, claimed bronze in the 13-year girls’ 50m event.

Paige Wilding finished in eighth spot in the BAGCAT rankings for 13 year-old girls, breaking a Club Record along the way in the 200m IM.

With so many PBs across the board, Hemel swimmers showed great depth of talent and dedication, staking their claim to belong to one of the best clubs in the County.  Congratulations to all.
