Hemel Hempstead SC completed their Herts Major League campaign with two strong top five finishes from the Division One and Two teams. Division One competing at Stevenage came fifth in their end gala which put them fourth overall in the league. The Division Two team at Potters Bar also claimed fifth spot on the night and fifth overall.
Swimmer of the Gala in Division One was Hannah Bagley who scored PBs in the u14 100m butterfly and the 50m freestyle relay, bettering her time free once again in the squadron at the end of the night.
Tom Sherriff claimed the sole individual win of the night with a blistering performance in the boys u16 100m freestyle.
Megan Pirrie and Kyle Holmes put in sterling work for the team. Holmes finished second in the u12 50m breaststroke and third in the 50m butterfly. Pirrie claimed second in the u12 50m breaststroke and fourth in the butterfly with a PB.
Max Jelfs and Devon Prior made the top three in their individual 50m backstroke and 100m breaststroke respectively.
Meanwhile in Division Two, Thushira Kumarage swam to second place twice in the u12 25m breaststroke and 25m butterfly.
This feat was matched by Robert Sizeland who put in two cracking performances in the u16 100m butterfly and breaststroke.
Other second spot finishers were Darcy Holmes in the u16 100m backstroke, Oliver Ayres in the same event for the boys, and Molly McLoughlin in the u14 girls 100m freestyle.
Swimmer of the Gala went to Steffi Huntingford, competing for Hemel for the last time, in recognition of both her performance on the night and her nine years of dedicated swimming at the club. We all wish her well.
