Megan Pirrie is National Finalist

28/08/20110

Just before the summer break, when most other swimmers had ended their season, Megan Pirrie still had one more important meet left on her calendar: the prestigious Welsh Summer Nationals.

Megan competed in three events in the 10-11 age group.  In the 200m breaststroke heats, in a field of twenty-five swimmers, Megan was fourth fastest, qualifying her for a place in the final.  She succeeded in knocking off a further couple of seconds from her heat time in a very fast final to finish in sixth spot overall.

Megan also swam a very strong 400m IM race, PB’ing not only on the overall time, but on the first 100m butterfly split too.  Her time of 6.04.41 put her in fifth spot out of eighteen competitors.

In the 200m freestyle, Megan was just outside her PB to come twentieth out of forty-five.

Well done to Megan on some impressive results at this high level competition.
