Milton Keynes and Peanuts update

09/07/20150

In a busy weekend for Hemel’s junior swimmers there were teams in action in both the Milton Keynes and Peanuts Leagues on Saturday night with the Milton Keynes team finishing a very creditable second despite the absence of a number of key swimmers.

There were individual wins for Kizzie Beckwith and Grace Cawley (2), and for the girls 9yr old medley and free relay squad, the boys 10 yr old medley squad and the girls 12 yr old freestyle relay squad.  But it was consistency rather than individual brilliance which secured a closely fought second place on the night with 24 second or third places and 12 personal best swims including impressive improvements from Grace Cawley, Dylan Kennell, and Matthieu Perrault.

At the time or writing the detailed Peanuts results were not available although we know that the team finished sixth on the night and as a result will be swimming in the second division of Peanuts next year.  Those not following the detail of this year’s competitions should be aware that following the decision to enter our first team in the Milton Keynes League we wanted our second team to continue to compete in the second division of Peanuts as they did in 2014.  Unfortunately the League’s governing body insisted that our second team replace the first team in the first division and quite unnecessarily leaving them to face three really tough rounds of competition.  Congratulations to everyone who performed so well in such difficult circumstances.
