Tough opposition for the Blue team

The Swimmers from Hemel Hempstead’s Blue team competed against very tough opposition in the first round of the Herts Peanuts League in Division 1. Hatfield finished in first place with Watford in second.

During the gala the Hemel team notched up and impressive 36 PB’s or new times.

A good effort by all, in particular notable swims from Isabelle Anderton who scooped first place in the girls U11 25m Freestyle and second places were claimed by Ashley Coombs – U12 50m Backstroke, Louis Armitage 9yr 25m Freestyle and Charles Rayner – U13 50m Free and 50m Fly.

Two of the Hemel relay teams also achieved second place finishes, the girls 4 x 50m Medley relay (Alice Fender, Leanne Abrey, Shaminah Sherwani-Keeling and Rebecca Sewell) and the boys 4 x 50m Medley relay, consisting of Ashley Coombs, Edward Shaw, Samuel Gaines and Jake Smith.

Individual swims from Georgia Purkis, Shaminah Sherwani-Keeling, Samuel Gaines and Edward Shaw and the boys U12 4 x 50m Free Relay team (Ashley Coombs, Samuel Gaines, Jake Smith and Edward Shaw) all claimed third place, with several personal bests between them.

There was a great team spirit throughout the gala with lots of support. Swimmers of the gala were Isabelle Anderton and Charles Rayner.
