Records Round Up

The early season galas have seen a number of Club records fall.

Aimee Abrey took the 15 Year old girls 100m Backstroke in 1.11.63 breaking a record that stood since 2009, she also took the 200m Backstroke record in 2.33.87 taking seven seconds off the previous record.

Lois Moore broke her own 50m 16-25 Year Old Butterfly record at the first Round of the Arena League in 34.04, especially impressive as she has recently started at University.

Jo Lee-Pearce broke a number of 25 Year and over Masters records at the Masters Nationals in Sheffield, she set new bests in the 200m Backstroke 2.46.41, 50m Breaststroke 39.01 and 100m and 200m Individual medley in 1.16.76 and 2.48.45 respectively.

The youngest swimmer to break a record was Charles Rayner who broke a record that has stood for 8 years in the 100m Breaststroke in 1.21.65, this was previously held by Andrew Egan who went on to be a breaststroke national finalist.

A couple of backstroke records fell with Josh Gaines taking the 14 year old boys 50m record in 31.70 and doing the double taking the 100m record in 1.06.96

Freddie Woodcock took a record that stood for 7 years in the 200m Backstroke with 2.15.02 breaking Bill Woodhouse’s record that stood since 2006.

Liam Barnett continued his record breaking run setting records at the Masters Nationals in the 50m and 100m Freestyle (25.14 and 54.24) and the 50m Breaststroke (33.49).

Our newest swimmer Alex Hatt who is studying at Loughborough University broke a 6 year old record swimming 1.18.31 in the 100m Breaststroke at the Arena League Round One.
