We welcomed Terry Davies, our Director of Swimming to the club in 2024. Terry brings an undisputed wealth of experience having coached at Olympic level and coaching a number of swimmers to take medals.
His exceptional career spanning over 50 years brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise and is the key to our new competitive training plan. Terry was also the founder of the famous Mount Kelly College swimming centre and lead coach in setting up the Paralympic Swimming Squad from 1980-1992.
Terry was awarded a place in the British Swimming Coaches Hall of Fame of Olympic Gold Medal Coaches.

Mark is a Level 2 coach, para coach and comes with a wealth of experience. In 2025, he will become President of Swim England Hertfordshire He also has a Level 2 teaching award. Along with his officiating qualifications, he gives valuable feedback and instruction to our swimmers.

Sarah’s daughter used to swim with the club, and Sarah is an ex-swimmer herself. She has taught swimming and achieved the Level 2 award. She has now taken the Coaching awards in Aquatics and is a Level 2 coach. Sarah also officiates for HHSC, having achieved the J2S qualification, and swims with our Masters squad.

Richard has had a long life with Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club. He initially joined the club when his son swam for us. He was often seen poolside either coaching or officiating and was primarily responsible for managing and selecting our teams for the league galas. After a break from the club, he has agreed to come back to coach our Masters squad.

Daniel is a member of our Master’s squad and has a son that swims for the club. He also has a 4 year old daughter learning to swim. Daniel can often be found pool side as an assistant coach and regularly attends gala’s.

Tom started coaching around 3 years ago as a volunteer coach. He is now a qualified Level 1 and is studying for his Level 2. Tom swam with the club as a teenager and has always loved improving his technique, getting faster and chasing those PBs. Having the opportunity to work with our amazing young swimmers, instilling those same skills and watching them improve and win medals, is what coaching is all about for him. It’s been so inspirational that he has recently got back in the pool as a master swimmer.

Matt is also a Masters swimmer with two girls. He has taken the Level 1 coaching course and regularly helps poolside with our Development squad on a Sunday morning.
